File Station

See Product Specification for the applied models.

The Synology File Station is a web-based file organizer that allows users to remotely access and manage files using a browser. As such, internet file sharing no longer requires advanced FTP knowledge. The Synology File Station also increases the file transfer efficiency among shared folders. Files no longer require routing through your computer. Data can now be transferred in mere seconds.

Setup steps:

To use the Synology File Station, users need to upgrade their Synology product to the latest firmware, and obtain an external IP or valid DDNS account.

  1. Enter the Disk Station Manager of the Synology product.
  2. Go to the Network Services > Web Services page and check Enable File Station.
  3. Go to the Privileges > Shared Folder page to setup user privileges. Click Privileges Setup and grant privileges to the user, and then click OK.
  4. If you have an external IP available, go to the System > Network page to set up the system IP. If you have a DDNS account, go to the Network Services > Ez-Internet page to set up Ez-Internet.

  5. After setup is complete, click on File Station at the upper right-hand corner.
  6. Once you have entered File Station, you can begin to manage your files. You can Upload, Create folder, Rename, Move, Copy, and Delete.
