I just wanted to say how amazed I am with my Synology DS411j NAS. I've had it for a fair few years now and the fact that I can still run the latest DSM version is nothing short of brilliant. Every time I see a major upgrade to DSM I wonder if my DS411j will be supported and to date, it is. Not only that, it works flawlessly. Great work by all at Synology for making such brilliant products. Thank you.

I've had my Synology DS212j for almost two years, and it's been fantastic for file storage and backup. It's very convenient having a secure central location for all of my files and media that all my devices can connect to. I really like the latest DSM 5.0 update, especially the Chromecast support. DS video makes it so easy to browse the media on my phone and stream to my Chromecast. If only there were Windows 8 apps so I could use my tablet to connect and stream! I have been very satisfied with my Synology NAS, and anticipate passing mine on to my brother and upgrading in the future. Keep up the great work!

Hi there, Just installed DSM 5 on my DS212+ and I've only been using it for a few minutes but am loving it! Just wanted to say the cleaner more modern look is fantastic. I particularly like the hard disk health pages in Storage Manager - I've been spending lots of time in there recently, unfortunately!! Also, what really impressed me, was the automated monthly email regarding my disks' health; giving headline information like bad sector count etc - that is PERFECT. Absolutely perfect. I feel like I've got a new NAS . . . For free!! The layout of the Control Panel is much more user-friendly in my opinion as well, I've not really used it much but can tell straight away I'll be able to manage everything more easily. I love the blue colour scheme, but it's my favourite colour so maybe I'm biased. Can't wait to explore it all!

I have had my NAS for two weeks now. It is the DS414 and I have installed 4 x 2TB WD Red NAS drives. I am very happy with this. The whole system, hardware and software is first rate. The software is well written, stable and just works. You also have good quality documentation and help. This is also the first NAS I have had with sufficient horsepower to drive everything quickly and even photo thumbnails come up quickly. The dual core Armada XP chip is a good choice. The only noise coming from the NAS is from the hard drives when it is working hard. It also goes into hibernate and out again without any issues. I have a NAS from another brand also but I had trouble on that hooking up to Time Machine. It is also much slower although then again it is a 4 year old NAS. Overall the Synology software is better in my opinion. I have also hooked it up locally to a UPS and again once hooked up via USB, it recognises it even though it isn't on your recommended list. I use this for backups from three windows PCs, a MacBook, I'm also using iOS applications for photos along with the Photo and Video Station. I'm about to enable remote access as well. Anyway, these things don't just happen, they're the result of blood, sweat and tears. I was a software engineer so I appreciate this.

We recently purchased a Synology Rackstation RS3614xs+ with x12 4TB WD Enterprise SATAs in RAID6. Primarily to act as a simple storage area to dump file based server backups & large VHD files on a daily basis for ease of recovery instead of drugging through tapes. Barely a month later after a rapid implementation the results are in and we are already seeing dramatic improvements in data transfer speeds & reduced backup windows- Yay! One of biggest pluses is the seamless integration with Windows Active Directory even though DSM runs on Linux. Simply by joining the device to your windows domain you have full access to apply NTFS permissions to shared folders – either through the inbuilt Web console (aka FileStation) or from the more familiar Windows Explorer – integration with Windows is trouble free even if you’re running a Windows2003 AD ! But it doesn’t stop there oh no this device does so much more than you can imagine, in fact so much I couldn’t possibly do it justice in a few short words. Safe to say this Pandora’s box of tricks could and should be considered as one stop shop for a small business needing file, print, email, web, backup, firewall/vpn, routing services and with the option of pairing two of these devices in a high availability failover configuration. A personal favourite feature of mine as a user of Joomla, Wordpress and Drupal was seeing the big three open source CMS systems being included as configurable packages. I managed to get all three running on the box in fewer than 30 mins just for fun! In summary I’d just like to say the Synology was the perfect choice for our SMB company offering superb value for money given its rich feature set that would easily push it into 5 figure territory compared to other major named brands. I genuinely couldn't be happier with this product, it has exceeded expectations which doesn’t often happen – it’s like striking Gold, keep up the good work!

I was looking for an affordable yet capable media server solution for streaming content to various devices around the house. After much research I finally settled on the Synology DS114, complete with a 2TB disc; striking a balance between price, capability, and storage capacity. Very pleased with my purchase - easy to set up and use.

In reference to the DSM 5.0 beta Launch event in London: "I really enjoyed the event, and as someone who has been involved with IT systems since 1972 and been a global product and marketing director for two Fortune 500 companies, can say that with some background! As a direct result of the event, I went online last night and purchased a Synology NAS – as you unkind enough not to pull my name in the prize draw – so look forward to receiving and implementing that, hopefully by the end of next week. I think I will get up to speed with the current OS before joining the Beta, but expect that within a month or so the Beta will have turned into a release and I will upgrade then."

I've just bought a DiskStation 211j, and I am just amazed at the quality of the product and your service. I didn't think that there were companies still providing this kind of quality, in a world where products come and go and support is patchy, and I truly hope you don't lose sight of what you're providing at the moment. There is a lot more to your products than the hardware, and from what I've seen so far your support and documentation is better than what is perceived to be 'world-class' these days.
