  4. Follow the wizard to complete the restoration.

Note:

  • After the restoration is complete, both block-level and file-level LUNs will be restored into file-level LUNs.*
  • When restoring a package, if the package is not installed, the system will automatically install the same or latest version of the application. If the application is installed, but it is a version that is older than the backed up one, the system will automatically upgrade it to the original backed up version.
  • Applications backed up in DSM 5.1 or above can not be restored in DSM 5.0 or below.

Select contained files or folders through ctrl or shift for multiselecting or ctrl+A for all selecting, and click Restore, Copy to... or Download (Download only supports single files) to retrieve the selected files/folders. The three options are also available if you right-click the files/folders.

  2. In the drop down menu, you can filter files/folders by the criteria below:

  1. When using the Hyper Backup on DSM 6.1 or above, your backup data will be stored in a new file format called .hbk.
  2. You can double-click the .hbk file in File Station to open it directly via Hyper Backup Explorer.
  3. To browse your backup data in File Station or via a standard file protocol (e.g. SAMBA or AFP), please right-click the .hbk or .bkpi file and select Mount Hyper Backup destination, and then choose a shared folder to serve as the mounted destination.
  4. If you have created an encrypted backup task, you must then enter the password or upload the password file to successfully mount the task.
  5. To disable this function, please right-click the .hbk or .bkpi file and select Unmount.

Note:

  • When using the Hyper Backup on DSM 6.1 or above, you can partially restore files from the backup versions that had been previously damaged, in which the damaged files will be skipped during file restoration.
  • Restoring the settings of Users and Groups may change the file privilege in shared folders.
  • When you perform backup and restoration on different Synology NAS devices and when no common directory service is available to manage the accounts of different Synology NAS devices, you should restore your data according to the system configurations to ensure the accuracy of file privilege. You can retrieve a file that is less sensitive to file privilege from Hyper Backup Explorer by right-clicking the file and selecting Copy to.
  • The .hbk files which were downloaded from public cloud services and imported to your local folder & USB can be restored by clicking Restore from existing repositories > Local folder & USB. If the .hbk files were downloaded from the local folder & USB and imported to public cloud services, you can restore the files by clicking Restore from existing repositories and selecting the cloud service where the files stored.
