Bluetooth

This page provides options to manage Bluetooth adapters and connect Bluetooth devices to your Synology NAS. Once connected, some Bluetooth devices, such as speakers or headphones, can be selected as the audio output for Audio Station, allowing you to easily listen to music stored on your Synology NAS.

Getting Started

Connect a USB Bluetooth adapter to a USB port on your Synology NAS. A list of Bluetooth adapters is displayed on the left side of the Bluetooth main page. Information and options related to Bluetooth devices are displayed on the right.

To enable or disable Bluetooth adapters:

  1. Select a Bluetooth adapter.
  2. Click Advanced Settings.
  3. Check the Enable Bluetooth box.
  4. Click OK to save settings.

Managing Bluetooth Devices

When connecting to a new Bluetooth device, make sure it is discoverable, located within 10 meters of the Synology NAS, and uses A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). Consult the user manual of the Bluetooth device for more details regarding setup.

To connect to a Bluetooth device:

  1. On the Bluetooth main page, select the Bluetooth device you want to connect to Synology NAS. If the device does not appear, try clicking Refresh to search for nearby devices.
  2. Select the device when it appears.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. Enter the PIN for your device if necessary.

To view Bluetooth device information:

  1. Select a connected Bluetooth device.
  2. Click Info.
  3. A window appears displaying information, such as Bluetooth address, name, type, and status.

To remove a Bluetooth device:

  1. Select a Bluetooth device that you do not want to use with your Synology NAS anymore.
  2. Click Remove.

Note:

  • When playing music through Bluetooth speakers or headphones, you might experience playback issues if the settings of your Bluetooth adapter are modified or you connect with too many Bluetooth devices at the same time.
  • Depending on the device, if a pair of Bluetooth speakers which have been connected to your Synology NAS are later connected to another Synology NAS (or Bluetooth music player), the speakers might forget your Synology NAS. In this case, an error will occur when attempting to play music with the speakers. To solve this problem, please remove the speakers and try connecting to them again.
