Video Station
Organize your video collections with Video Station. You can manage movies, TV shows, or home videos on your Synology NAS and stream them to various devices, including computers, DLNA/UPnP-compliant DMAs, AirPlay devices, and mobile devices.
To upload a video:
For videos to display in Video Station, please upload them to File Station.
- Launch File Station on DSM and select a folder to save videos. The system will automatically create a folder named video as the default folder after Video Station is installed.
- Click Upload to add videos from your local computer to File Station.
- Once the upload is complete, go to Video Station and add a video folder for each video library in order that your uploaded videos can be displayed in the corresponding library. For detailed steps, please refer to this article.
To download a folder or file:
- In File Station, right-click on a folder or file, and click Download to download a folder or a single file.
Sign in to Video Station
After installing Video Station, you can select one of the following ways to sign in using a browser.
To sign in from DSM:
- Make sure your computer and Synology NAS are on the same local network.
- Sign in to DSM by entering one of the following in the address bar through a web browser:
- find.synology.com (Only if your computer and Synology NAS are connected to the Internet)
- The server name of your Synology NAS followed by :5000 or :5001, e.g., http://diskstation:5000 or https://diskstation:5001 (The actual name depends on the settings configured upon the initial setup)
- The IP address of your Synology NAS followed by :5000 or :5001, e.g., http://192.168.48.14:5000 or https://192.168.48.14:5001 (The IP address depends on the initial DSM setup settings)
- If Video Station is installed, the application icon will appear in Main Menu.
- Click the Video Station icon to launch it in a new window.
To sign in using Video Station login portal:
- Make sure your computer and Synology NAS are on the same local network.
- Go to DSM Control Panel > Login Portal > Applications.
- Select Video Station and click Edit.
- Enter your customized port number in the Customized port (HTTP) or Customized port (HTTPS) field.
- Click Save to save your settings.
- Enter one of the following in the address bar:
- The server name of your Synology NAS followed by :9007 or :9008, e.g., http://diskstation:9007 or https://diskstation:9008 (The actual name depends on the settings configured upon the initial setup)
- The IP address of your Synology NAS followed by :9007 or :9008, e.g., 192.168.48.14:9007 or 192.168.48.14:9008 (The IP address depends on the initial DSM setup settings)
- Enter your username and password and click Sign in to launch Video Station.
Taskbar
The taskbar is located at the top of the screen and includes the following items:
- Homepage: Go back to the Video Station homepage.
- Search: Quickly find your videos here.
- Account: View About information, or log out of Video Station here.
- Help: Refer to Help articles guiding you through Video Station's operations.
- Offline Conversion: View the Offline Conversion statuses here.
- Settings: Configure Library, DTV, Privileges, Advanced, and Options settings here.
Note:
- Advanced Media Extensions (AME) is required to play videos in HEVC format. (Learn more)
