Synology Photos package must be installed on your Synology NAS
Synology Image Assistant Extension must be installed on your browser
Supported operating systems:
DSM 7.2.2 or above
Windows 11 22H2 or above, not including Windows Arm-based computers (See limitation 1)
macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 or above (See limitation 2)
Generates additional previews or compressed videos for the following formats:
Image formats: HEIC, HEIF, HIF
Video formats: 3G2, 3GP, ASF, AVI, DivX, M4V, MOV (HEVC) including Live Photos, MPEG, MPG, MP4 (HEVC), MTS, M2T, M2TS, QT, WMV, XviD
Limitations
Synology Image Assistant for desktop requires the HEVC codec on your computer to generate image previews and compressed videos for certain formats. We recommend updating your computer to Windows 11 22H2 or above to install the free HEVC codec, or you can purchase it from the Microsoft Store if your manufacturer does not provide the codec
If your macOS is too old, the desktop app will have limited support for HEVC and VP9 codecs. We recommend using a newer computer or using the Synology Photos mobile app to generate image previews instead
