Which Synology NAS models does Migration Assistant support?

Details

All models listed on the Migration Assistant web page are supported.¹ These models can be divided into two categories.

All models listed on the Migration Assistant web page that are not included in Category 1

Refer to the following rules for migrating between the two categories.

Category 2	NO	OK

You can migrate a Category 1 server to a different server in Category 1 or 2. However, if the source server contains any Btrfs volume, you can only migrate it to a Category 2 server.⁵
You can only migrate a Category 2 server to another Category 2 server.

Notes:

If your device is not listed, try using other migration methods.
VDSM and DDSM are not supported.
We recommend migrating to a Synology NAS with better hardware specification to ensure all packages and services will work properly after migration. Refer to your product's datasheet for more information.
Only supported when the volume on the source model are in ext3 or ext4 format. Btrfs is not supported.
Models in Category 1 do not support Btrfs volumes. However, Btrfs volumes may appear on Category 1 models as a result of users manually migrating hard drives (also known as HDD migration).
