Diagnosis

The drives installed in the RX1222sas expansion unit are not recognized by the host Synology NAS if your DSM is lower than 6.2.4-25556 Update 3 (for DSM 6.2 versions) or 7.0.1-42218 Update 2 (for DSM 7.0 versions).

Resolution

Synology may optimize the hardware components inside each product, based on the manufacturer’s supply and product life cycle status. If your host Synology NAS cannot recognize the drives installed in your RX1222sas expansion unit, go to DSM Control Panel > Update & Restore > DSM Update and check your current DSM version. Please update your DSM to 6.2.4-25556 Update 3 (for DSM 6.2 versions) or 7.0.1-42218 Update 2 (for DSM 7.0 versions) or above.

Notes:

  1. After a DSM update, your Synology NAS will restart automatically.
