The Challenge

Limited coordination, security issues, and needs for comprehensive solutions

Prior to adopting Synology for their overall infrastructure and surveillance system, the company was in its early stages and lacked a well-established IT setup. This, along with the team relying on analog surveillance systems without a centralized monitoring location, resulted in limited oversight and coordination, hindering their ability to effectively manage and respond to security issues in a timely manner. After realizing this, UFC began to search for a more comprehensive solution.

The Solution

Diverse capabilities with 3-2-1 backup

After extensive comparisons and recommendations from colleagues, UFC decided to go with Synology. With Synology devices' diverse capabilities, they could easily enhance their IT infrastructure while also addressing the surveillance limitations they were experiencing.

Currently, UFC has employed NAS units as dedicated servers for data storage at 15 culinary operational sites in the region. Active Backup for Business is used to back up workstation servers to the NAS, storing essential data such as transaction records and administrative files. Additionally, Surveillance Station is used to efficiently back up surveillance data to the NAS for simplified security management. At the UFC headquarters, an RS3618xs serves as the Central Management Server (CMS), effectively managing and controlling devices at each branch and streamlining operations.

On top of that, the team at UFC took their data protection a step further by implementing regular offsite backups to OneDrive using Hyper Backup. This, in combination with their other backups, allows them to adhere to the 3-2-1 backup rule (3 copies, 2 mediums, 1 off-site) for better protection of their valuable data assets.
