TOHO Singapore was established as a new entity through the consolidation of three companies, inheriting a mix of IT solutions to manage their infrastructure. While operational processes were gradually streamlined, the lack of a comprehensive and unified backup strategy became a significant risk to business continuity. TOHO Singapore required a solution that could handle their diverse workloads, ensure data protection, and simplify management across local and cloud environments. After evaluating solutions from Arcserve, Veeam, and Synology, they chose Synology for its enterprise-grade security, data resiliency, and flexibility in backup and disaster recovery destinations.

The Solution

Enabling instant recovery and hybrid backup protection for M365 workloads

Microsoft 365 serves as a cornerstone of TOHO Singapore’s operations, facilitating communication, file management, and collaborative workflows. With Synology's Active Backup for Microsoft 365, the IT team automated backup plans for Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint, and more. Data is securely backed up to an on-premises Synology server and a separate cloud location.

This dual-location strategy not only reduced the average backup time to under 30 minutes but also added a layer of redundancy with disaster recovery replication. Even in the unlikely event of simultaneous failures, their business-critical data remains secure and accessible.

For their on-premises virtual machines and servers running on Windows Server, TOHO Singapore turned to Synology’s C2 Backup. This solution provides end-to-end encryption, incremental backup deduplication, and seamless cloud integration. By using C2 Backup, TOHO Singapore eliminated the need for additional management or infrastructure, ensuring a secure and straightforward backup process.
