Why I bought a new DS1813+: I owned a DS409+ for 5-6 years, and never had any issues with it, in it self this is a good reason, but should also be expected of a quality product. But the main reason I bought a new DS1813+ is that in all those years i have been able to update it with the new DSM, giving me more and more functionality over the years, making my purchase better and better. Owning a lot of other tech. stuff, which after 1-2 years meets end of life support and service (not mentioning any names) and then meeting a company which sticks to its own product for years and years, this requires praise and payback. This is why I stick to Synology. Thanks and keep up the support.

I use Synology products for a couple of years and they completly fit my needs. I asked a few days ago a question to the technical support about the apt-X codec feature on bluetooth dongles. Even if the question was for a personal use of my DS112, I received a quick, clear and very professional answer. I would like to point the fact that synology deliver a high quality hardware, software AND support, even for a personal use. I hope that the next DSM update will support apt-X codec on bluetooth dongles, that will make my DS112 the best home music broadcaster. Thanks a lot. B. another happy synology user.

Just wanted to say well done! I've been using a DS411j for about a year now for home storage with 3x 3TB drives in it, and it has worked a treat. I use an encrypted volume so that if the thing is stolen no-one can get the data of it (which seems to work well as unplugging it requires remounting). The interface is outstanding and all the additional things it can do (I don't use them although I did consider using SMTP/POP3/IMAP on it) are very cool. Most of all though, I have confidence in it which is important when you need to be sure your data is safe. I've had to repair a few times when a disk has crashed (but not needed replacement yet) and this just works. RAID is fine in principle, but you only get to find out how well it works when things go wrong - and it works well. Also, your support pages are clear. If only everything in IT was like this - really, well done.

I have been using a Synology NAS for some years now and decided it was time to upgrade, I decided to buy an RS812 and when the package arrived I set about getting it all working on our network here in Spain. I needed to get some support quickly when I hit a problem and decided to give the Synology guys in the UK a call (life is always easier in your native language!) To my great pleasure they were able to help me immediately over the phone, sorting out the issue and even followed up the call with an email linking to a support document that solved and explained my problem. I was already a happy Synology customer, they have now exceeded my expectations and I would gladly recommend them to others – keep up the great work guys!

Hi folks. I thought you might like this story...I'm a web developer for a city in the U.S with about 100,000 residents. Last week we were hit by a storm and the power went out in much of the city for a couple of days. We had over 40 roads closed and hundreds of trees down. City Hall has an emergency generator, but that failed on us. The result? The City's website went down at a time when residents and businesses needed emergency information. Fortunately my home DiskStation saved the day! I quickly set up a webpage and hosted it on my DS413 at my house. I had never used my DiskStation for that application, but it was simple to set up. I then told the City's system administrator to point the City’s domain at my home IP address. Within 15 minutes, the city’s residents and workers were getting emergency information served to them by my DS413! A big win for little black box that sits on my desk Thanks Synology!

I just upgraded my Synology 211 from a dual 2TB to a dual 4TB RAID 1 configuration. Although it took something like 20 hours, there were NO problems at all, and all my files are safe safe and sound on the new disks - and have been available throughout the whole process. I bought my Synology 211 two years ago, and it is easily the best IT investment I have made in years!

Ladies and Gentlemen, last week I had to take your phone support for my DiskStation 213+. Your employee has proven to be an absolute master of his craft who has simply solved my problem as I hoped. A few months ago I made an equally positive experience with another employee. It is by no means a matter of fact that companies that produce high-end products, also provide the matching high-end support to their customers. But if that's not guaranteed there won't be any benefit from a high-end product when problems occure . So I can only confirm that you have chosen the right path from the consumer perspective. One week ago I purchased a DS213+ unit in order to use as a backup system for my work on the PC at home. WOW. I work in IT and have never come across a system which is so easy to configure and use as this unit is. The ability to Air Play now means I can stream my music from room to room, watch my home videos and view my holiday photos on any TV in the house - Brilliant. Good products like this don't just come from good hardware design, but also from the team behind it who show common sense and imagination in the system they have produced.

Synology thanks to my awesome DS209+II and DS212 I stream my entire media collection anywhere in the world on every single mobile device I own, my DNS look ups are lightning fast, my email is mine and not part of the google collective, I never leave home without my most important files, I can build and test websites locally before deployment without doubling my utility bill, my family never has to ask "do you have that picture from 4 years ago and can you email it to me", my SIP based telecommunications (telephone) service has never been more powerful, inexpensive or portable and I never worry that my data might go poof because a drive failed - my digital life is almost complete....thank you for DSM 4.2 and all of the included packages that made the above real...well done..well done indeed :)

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd like to offer my compliments to one of your employees, who I contacted on 3.28.2013 for some installation problems with my new DS213+. Here is a brief description of the issue: After failing to install DiskStation for 3 days, I called your hotline out of desperation. However, the line was overloaded so I left a message on the answering machine and asked for a reply. To my amazement and joy, I was actually called back by one of your employees. He patiently listened to my description and helped to identify the problem. He asked me to upload a program on my PC, and promptly he was able to make all the necessary settings for my DiskStation and the router. By just communicating on the phone, I could see that your employee is a competent person who knows how to turn his knowledge for actual help. His questions were specific and he turned them into actions with certainty and competence. While he made the adjustments, I stared stunned at the screen and was fascinated by how quickly and accurately the work was done. Ultimately, the DiskStation was set up as I required. So here again, I'd like to give personal thanks to your employee for his service. I feel the need to write these lines, as to compliment the exceptional employee for one reason and the other to praise the excellent service which is usually missing from other companies. You've responded super fast back then and took the initiative to exchange the DiskStation. The new device works without any problem now and I am very satisfied with the product. I was outgrowing the storage my home-build Windows Home Server 2011 could provide and was looking for a NAS solution that would more efficiently utilize the hard drives i already owned. Although the Stablebit DrivePool extension for WHS2011 was rock solid, it was effectively cutting my RAW storage in half because of the way it duplicated data across two drives. Enter Synology's DiskSatation. By using a flexible version of RAID 6 with dual disk failure protection which they call SHR-2, I was more protected from drive failure than with my WHS box, AND i'm utilizing my hard drive space more efficiently than before. I went from about 10TB of usable space to about 18TB of usable space with the same drives, and dual disk protection with their 8 bay DS1812+! I've since purchased another unit to act as an onsite backup. Did i mention Synology rocks?

It took me days to set up [the other NAS] with limited apps supported . Luckily i found Synology through the search of building NAS on youtube and it is a relief . Synology is exactly everything I want for my business. So simple to set up but giving amazing results. my clients now have instant view of their photos with private protection. I was in the process of backing up my Synology DS409+ to the cloud for the first time when one of my drives dropped out of my Raid 5 array, during the rebuilding process, another drive dropped out. Fortunately for me, Synology support was able determine that the data partition of the 2nd disk to drop out of the array was still usable. They mounted it back, and I was able to make a backup before I would have lost years of data for good. Thanks for saving me!
