What's new

This version introduces newly upgraded features for data protection and recovery.

1. Added support for internal restore points, a built-in, zero-configuration method that utilizes snapshots to safeguard BeeFiles and BeePhotos. This feature simplifies data recovery in cases of accidental file deletion or modification. Restore points are stored in BeeStation, with the latest 30 versions retained. To manually delete restore points and free up space, go to Storage > Internal restore points.
2. Added BeeProtect as a new backup location. BeeProtect is a cloud backup solution designed specifically for BeeStation. Learn more
3. Added Synology NAS as a new backup location. Synology NAS requires Hyper Backup Vault version 4017 or later.

Fixed issues

Fixed an issue where recipients of files from deleted users could only access the files via SMB service. Transferred files can now be accessed directly through BeeFiles.

Important Note

To enhance the browsing experience and ensure that other applications continue to run smoothly while BeeStation processes a large number of photos and videos, certain resource-intensive system tasks will be offloaded to computers and mobile devices starting with this version.

With this change, you will need to install Synology Image Assistant when uploading new HEIC photos or HEVC (H.265) videos via web browsers or SMB. Otherwise, these files may not display correctly in BeeFiles or BeePhotos. Note that HEIC and HEVC files uploaded or backed up through the BeeFiles and BeePhotos mobile apps will remain unaffected and will display as usual.

Synology Image Assistant generates smaller JPEG previews (for BeePhotos and BeeFiles) and MP4 preview videos (for BeePhotos) for these formats, making them viewable across browsers and devices. For more information, refer to this tutorial.

Synology Image Assistant is available on:

• Windows/macOS: As a browser extension and as a desktop app. Both must be installed together.
• iOS/Android: As an added feature in the BeePhotos mobile app. It resolves display issues for HEIC and HEVC files uploaded via SMB or web browsers without using the desktop version of Synology Image Assistant.

Note: For Windows users, depending on your setup, you may need to update to Windows 11 version 22H2 or purchase the HEVC Video Extensions from Microsoft.

What's new

1. Added support for configuring the "Maximum versions retained" when BeeStation backs up to C2 Storage
2. Advanced Plan and external drives. Once the maximum is reached, older versions will be automatically replaced by new backups.
3. Added support for including thumbnails in BeeFiles when creating backups or restoring through System Settings > Backup & Restore.

Fixed issues

1. Fixed an issue where BeeStation notification emails were not updated after changing the Synology Account email address.
2. Enhanced the connection speed from the BeeStation web portal to BeeFiles, BeePhotos, and System Settings.
3. Fixed an issue where the backup status message was inaccurate when BeeStation experienced network disconnections or authentication failures during backups to C2 Storage.
4. Fixed an issue where, if the backup process was unexpectedly interrupted and only a partial file was backed up, the status was incorrectly displayed as "Not backed up yet" instead of "Partial success".
