Release Notes for Media Server

Media Server provides a multimedia service for you to browse and play the multimedia contents on Synology Router via DLNA/UPnP home devices. With Media Server, you can easily connect those devices such as TV sets and stereo systems to your home network, and stream multimedia files stored on Synology Router to the devices to enjoy music, photos, and videos.

Important Note

  1. For SRM 1.1, this update is compatible with SRM 1.1.7 update 4 and above.
  2. For SRM 1.2, this update is compatible with SRM 1.2.5 update 8 and above.
  3. AAC-encoded content can be decoded and natively played back by most end devices, such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs. Server-side transcoding of AAC-encoded content has been a redundant and resource-consuming process that was removed starting from SRM 1.1 & 1.2.
